This is my first time here, and I’m sharing my thoughts. It may come across to some as personal attacks, so apologies in advance, but I genuinely want to understand why many women feel triggered when asked about their body count. I can’t seem to grasp how that question is offensive. A few days ago, I came across a post where a woman was ranting about being afraid that her body count might ruin her relationship. What stood out to me was how other women blamed her for being honest with her partner. First of all, I understand that it’s a sensitive question and not something just anyone should ask. However, if you’re considering spending the rest of your life with someone, that person absolutely has the right to ask. It’s disappointing to see how some people think about this issue.
A sensible partner asks questions that matter to them before committing, and the number of people you’ve slept with is an important one. In fact, it should matter to you as a woman as well. Whether you’re a man or a woman, knowing the kind of life your partner used to live helps with understanding compatibility, values, and expectations moving forward. What I don’t understand is this: if body count “doesn’t matter,” then why is it so hard to be honest about it? Why feel the need to lie or avoid the question? If it truly isn’t a big deal, transparency shouldn’t be a problem. But guess what? Most of you all won’t stop sleeping around for survival, for peanuts, or for things that don’t matter, yet you get triggered when you’re asked about your body count. Even before some of you finish university, you have been run through by multiple men in the name of going from one relationship to another, when you could just close your legs, for goodness’ sake! Do better!
