Rantz family, my husband and I have been married for three years now, but we currently live in different countries. I’m planning to join him next month, but as the date gets closer, I find myself feeling more nervous and uncertain about the marriage. He doesn’t listen to me or take my advice. He argues a lot and always wants to have the final say. He’s also very quick to call me names, and at this point, I don’t even know if I still feel love for him. A recent issue that really bothered me was about a Netflix account I created for our household. He went ahead and shared the login with his friend, even though I had been the one paying for the subscription for the past four months. Whenever I asked him to contribute, he made it a big deal, so I decided to stop paying for it. Now that he finally pays for it, he complains and keeps bringing up how many times I paid before. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with a married man sharing a family account with friends; it feels disrespectful. I wouldn’t have minded if he were single, but as a family man, I believe his friend should have his own account.
Instead of understanding my point, my husband called me “evil” and “w*cked.” Another situation that deeply hurt me happened in February when we visited his aunt. She was aware of our marriage, yet we sat in her living room for five hours, and she never acknowledged me. Later, she claimed she didn’t know I was his wife, even though I had my wedding ring on the entire time. Even after realising who I was, she didn’t apologise. Instead, she and her husband blamed me for not telling my husband, a grown man, to visit his family in Port Harcourt. I felt extremely embarrassed and hurt. What made it worse was that my husband sat there the entire time and didn’t defend me. Please, let me know if I didn’t act right. I’m always open to corrections.
