So, there’s this friend of mine I like so much, and for that reason, I used to overlook any bad thing she did to me. But she did something to me recently that I didn’t like, and it really pained me. I said to myself that I had had enough of her and was letting her be. No more friendship between us. Some weeks ago, she was telling me about a guy she met. The guy was willing to drop her off, but she refused, so the guy gave her some cash since she didn’t enter his car, and they exchanged contacts. When she told me about it, she also said the guy had messaged her already, but she didn’t reply. So, I persuaded her to reply to him, saying it wasn’t a big deal and that she should at least hear him out. She replied to the guy right there. The guy called her afterwards and was being nice to both my friend and me. He even promised to send us money, which he sent. After we received the money, we called him to appreciate him, and he went further to tell us in Yoruba that later in the day, we should go and ask for the prices of the foodstuffs we needed at home: “Ke lo bere foodstuffs te need.”
We were happy, not knowing my friend had other plans. Later in the day, I told her to text the guy the prices of the foodstuffs, which she did, and the guy sent the money. After the alert came in, I told my friend to send my share. That was when she asked, “Which money? Didn’t you collect money earlier?” I was shocked, and I told her that we both collected money. The man gave me N10k earlier, and he gave her N20k. She then went ahead to say she was the only one the man told to buy foodstuffs and, moreover, I wasn’t the one the man knew. By then, she had already left for her house. I was really pained by what she did. Meanwhile, this is not her first time acting selfishly like this. There was a day we went to a club, and she met someone she knew there. The guy offered to support us with the drinks we wanted to buy. The guy sent N20k. As soon as we entered the club, we saw our homeboy, and he told us to move to their table. It was that homeboy who got us tequila and some other things we bought at the club that night.
When we later got home, my friend didn’t even share the N20k with us, even though we were three. She acted as if nothing had happened. After about one week, I asked her about the money, and she said, “Why are you asking me about the money? Are you the one who knows the guy?” I let it go. This girl has done a lot to me and even shown me that she’s a fake friend whom I should have cut off long ago, but I kept forgiving her. However, what she did recently really made me angry, and I decided to cut her off. I just want to ask if I’m overreacting.
