Hello everyone, please, I need advice, and if you’ve experienced a similar situation, please tell me how you went about it. I apologise for a lengthy write-up in advance. I’ll try not to make this long. I had my first boyfriend in my final year in school. That was about 4 years ago. We dated for a year, and it was a very toxic relationship. It was my first relationship, and I was very naive. I accepted a lot of things I shouldn’t have. He had anger issues, like, to the extreme, not just with me but with everyone, including his mum. He once broke a bottle during an argument with his mum. It was that bad. He was violent and all that. During the relationship, I knew I had to end stuff with him, but I didn’t. I loved him. My mum didn’t know about any of this. She just knew we were serious, so she took his name to her pastor, and the man told her I couldn’t get married to him and that he had anger issues and smoked a lot. The pastor told her a lot, which I knew was right. I didn’t confirm any of these to her.
I just said I’ve heard, till we eventually broke up during my service year. It was a very messy breakup, by the way. I’m currently in a relationship with someone, and honestly, he’s the best. He’s doing everything to make me happy. He doesn’t raise his voice, doesn’t insult, he’s very open, and doesn’t hide anything from me. He loves me so much. And to be honest, I haven’t seen any red flags yet. We’ve been dating for two years now. My mum took his name to her pastor again, and the man told her I still can’t marry him, that our destinies don’t align, and my mum isn’t having it. She said she told me about the last one, and it ended up in a bad way, but the difference is that this guy is good to me. Like, so good. I’ve tried to explain to her, but she’s not having it. She said it’s about the future. My boyfriend is really serious with me and wants to relocate to my city because I told him I want him close by, and he’s discussing marriage too. I’m so confused about the whole thing. I love him so much.
