The Sexually Molested Boy Child

They said, “Boys are strong.” So, he learned to swallow screams before he learned to shave. He was only a boy, too young to know that ev!l sometimes lives behind familiar smiles and that the women his mother trusted would leave him with wounds no one could see. Twenty years have passed. The calendar insists he is a man now. His beard has grown, his voice has deepened, and his shoulders have widened. But somewhere inside his chest, a frightened little boy still waits for someone to ask, “What happened to you?” instead of, “What’s wrong with you?” He survived. But surviving is not the same as healing, and healing is not forgetting. Some children grow into adults still searching for the home that was stolen from inside themselves. So, be gentle with the boy who became a man while carrying a childhood too heavy for small hands. Because sometimes, the bravest thing a survivor ever does is wake up one more morning and choose to keep living. And maybe, just maybe, one day, he will discover that what was taken from him was never his worth, only his peace. And peace, though delayed, can still find its way home.
