I Was Never This Scared In My Life

On Thursday last week, my boyfriend texted me around 6:54pm if I could come to his place. He stays at Offa while I’m at Ilorin. He asked me to come because I told him I was missing him badly and I’m bored at home. So he asked me if I could still come over by that time and I was like no problem, I would. I went to take my bath and then after all the packing of my stuff and getting dressed, it was already 7:15pm. I quickly withdrew money and took maruwa to Challenge. The maruwa was so slow because of the taking and dropping passengers. Mind you, I would have taken a bike, but it’s late and I’m scared of all those bikes here in Ilorin. So after I got to Challenge, I met the last bus and I entered. We stayed for like 2 minutes, by then it was already around 8 something. The bus eventually started the journey. Then my mind asked me to look back… the last back seat was empty, the middle seat was occupied with 3 guys and a girl (two of the guys were Hausa and the other one is Yoruba but he looked kind of dangerous). Where I was seated, we were only 2— a man beside me— and along the road they picked up another man, so we were 3. Two were at the front: a lady and a man.

At that point, my mind was telling me, hope I’ve not gotten into the hands of kidnappers. Oh God! I was praying really hard that I should be safe. I texted my boyfriend and told him that I was about to be kidnapped, and at this time my phone was at 10 percent and my power bank was off. At that point, I knew I was in for it. I kept looking sideways and even behind. The girl at the back seat started watching a movie and my eyes caught something around her stomach and immediately I concluded that it was a gun.

At that point, I remembered I was a Muslim and I can recite so many suras (if I had been praying that hard on a normal day, I would have been sitting down with Dangotes by now). Anytime we got to a dark place, my heartbeat increased, and when we got to where there was light and cars were passing, I would calm down and look around me. Omo, I was sweating from head to toe. We got to a stage where something fell from our car—omo, I nearly fainted. The driver came down and arranged everything and we continued the journey.

Na until we reached the last bus stop that my heart, which was up, came down. All my legs were sweaty and it was obvious in my eyes that I was damn scared because they kept asking me what was wrong when I got down. Omo, as I reached my boyfriend’s side, I first went to release the hot shit 💩 that was in my body first. I was never this scared all my life.
