I’ve Tried My Best But it Doesn’t Seem to Be Enough

The pressure on firstborn children is extremely crazy. I’ve tried my best, but it seems like my best is never enough. I don’t know what to do anymore, and all that is crossing my mind right now is to end it all. We were living well before I lost my dad some years back, and things gradually started going down the drain to the point that I even had to stop school for a whole year after he died. My strong mum has been working her butt off, and I’ve been trying too, but nothing to show for it. It just keeps getting worse, especially after her shop was gutted by fire. We were served a quit notice some months ago, and we were supposed to move out a week ago, but we begged for grace till Saturday, hoping to get an affordable place, but no! They keep asking for two years’ rent with outrageous charges. We had to run out of the house early Sunday morning to avoid our things being thrown into the streets. A lot has been sold off. I’ve been running everywhere for help, but Nigeria is tough on everyone, so we didn’t get any assistance.

Out of desperation, I reached out to my dad’s sister for the first time since he died about 10 years ago. This woman accused us of trying to scam her despite our explanations with proof, then she later said she doesn’t have it. I was so pained, and I’ve been crying ever since because since my dad died, my mum has been the one caring for us with no help from his family, and we don’t feel entitled to anything at all, but the fact that she wrongly accused us is so painful. From the look of things, I might even drop out of school. I’m in my finals already, by the way. I suffered till I got to year 4, and now I’ll drop out in year 5 with nothing to show for it? LOL. The only person who has money to help me is asking for something I can’t give. I want to end it all and just rest. I am TIRED!!! God, please.
