I Feel Disrespected by My Boyfriend

Omo, I came to spend some time with my man after a long-distance relationship before leaving for school for my final clearance. I have stayed for almost a month, and I’m questioning if this is who I want to spend forever with. He is controlling, but he never admits it. When he tells me to do something, he wants me to move like a robot. But I have a mind of my own, a stubborn one at that. What I don’t like, I tell him. I have asked him several times to stop ordering me around like I’m his younger sister, and he’s just one year older than I am. He keeps talking about how he’s an Urhobo man and has the right to demand respect. Forget that. I’m not someone he can toss around. All of a sudden, he came up with the claim that I don’t greet him in the morning. That’s exactly when I knew I had overstayed my welcome. He said, “Am I supposed to remind you? Can’t you use your head?” Lol. Greeting doesn’t take anything from me. I greet everyone. I told him, “You don’t demand respect, you earn it.” I’m so mad. We’ve been together for a year, and I never saw any of these nasty character traits of his. I’m rethinking everything. The disrespect is just getting too much.
