Hi everyone. I met this guy last year, and we started dating after a few months. He has been good to me and supportive, and I have never cheated on him. However, I found out he has another girl whom he has been involved with for a couple of years. I asked him about it, and he said their relationship had been on and off. He even dated other people while the girl was still in the picture during their periods of no contact, and whenever a new relationship ended, he would go back to her. He never told me about this person. I found out on my own. He only says she is violent and that some things are better left unsaid. According to him, he loves me and wants me. I tried to put the thoughts behind me because he doesn’t treat me badly. His actions show that he adores me, but the issue doesn’t go away because the girl is still in the picture. Whenever I express my concerns to him, he apologises and says he has cut her off already since the situation makes me uncomfortable. We have been together for over a year now, and it’s getting serious. I don’t want to waste years of my life. I don’t know what to believe about him and the girl.
I have tried leaving the relationship multiple times because I don’t want problems, but he doesn’t want me to go. He would do anything for us to stay together. He makes sure he speaks to me every day, even when I don’t want to talk. He always calls me. He is a good man so far. He helped me through difficult times and even started a business for me. But I am in a difficult position because the girl still speaks to his family. Well, I do not believe he has cut her off. I do not believe he no longer wants her. He can want me and still not let her go. I want to leave the relationship for the sake of my peace. I am ready to let go so I can have my life together again, even though I love him so much and would do anything for him, just as he would for me. I think about my situation 70% of the time, but he wouldn’t let me go. I have tried everything. What do I do?
