Dating A Habitual Liar

What do you do when someone you’re dating lies? He lies at any given chance, even over petty things. For instance, he asked if his rechargeable fan was plugged in to charge because there was electricity, and I responded, “Yes.” He asked, “Is it on?” I responded, “No,” and he said it was a lie and that it would definitely be on. I asked him to check, and he asked us to bet. When he got inside, he saw it wasn’t on but came out to say he found it on and working. He even swore, and thank God I had made a video in which the fan appeared minutes before the questions. I don’t know why he lied over a bet. I was so upset that I had an outburst of emotions. I felt bad, and I insulted him. After much back and forth, he said, “I never said it was rolling. I only said it was on.” That passed. Later in the evening, another issue occurred involving us arguing about a guy we both know. We were just debating whether he was a worker at a store or not. I said he wasn’t a worker, but my boyfriend said he was and that even the owner of the store had told him the guy was his worker.

He even said the employer disclosed his employee’s name to him directly, and I was like, “That can’t be.” Even if he’s a worker, the store owner wouldn’t disclose his employee’s name if it wasn’t necessary. He even went as far as daring me to ask the guy because the so called guy is my friend and his acquaintance. But because of his lying nature, and because I’ve had enough of his lies for the past few years, I had to ask the guy. He said he wasn’t a sales representative for the man, which meant I was correct. But I thought about it and wondered why he would be lying over little things. I showed him the guy’s chat as proof, and he was dumbfounded. Not long after, he lied about a power bank at that same moment. He asked to use my power bank, and I asked him about his. He said it was at one per cent, even though we had been running the generator throughout. So, how was it possible for his power bank to be at one per cent? I had to check and saw that it was charged. Omo, I felt disgusted.

There are so many lies, whether about his whereabouts or missing things. It’s even worse to the point that if anything goes wrong, gets spoilt, or becomes disorganised, he says it was me. If he forgets things, he says it’s because of me. If he spoils something, he says it was me. What can I do? It has been one lie after another. He’s never accountable and doesn’t like to accept defeat. He always wants me to take all the blame or feel like I’m a bad person by lying against me. I don’t know how many lies he has told in the past. God knows if everything he has been telling me for years has been a lie. It’s becoming more noticeable, and it disgusts me so much. It’s not like I will beat him.
