I met this guy online last year, and we connected easily. Everything was going well at first. About five to six months in, he started acting differently. I noticed inconsistency, a lack of emotional presence, and I felt less prioritised. Whenever I complained, he would change for a week or two, then go back to the same behaviour. By December, after a few small fights, I had already made up my mind to leave. In January, I ended things. We stayed out of contact for a month. He reached out to people close to me, asking them to tell me to unblock him. I had forgotten to block him on my business number, so he contacted me there. He called, apologised repeatedly, and begged to talk. After two days, I agreed.
During our conversation, he explained that past trauma made him scared of things getting too serious, so he pulled back instead of communicating properly. Then I asked him if he had a child. He paused and said yes, then asked if my elder brother had told me. I was shocked because I had clearly told him during the relationship that I didn’t want to date a man with a child. He kept this from me for a year but told people close to me. He said he was afraid of losing me and hoped those close to me would help him figure out how to tell me. He has been apologising ever since. Now, people around me say it was just fear and not that serious. But my issue is that he lied about something this big. I really need advice.
