A friend of mine works as a graphic designer, and she just got a remote job with a company through another friend’s referral. The funny thing is that most of the staff are Muslims, and she is the only Christian. Based on the referral, that’s why they hired her. Of course, she knows her job well. It’s been a week since she started. Though she has two other freelance jobs, there’s an event coming up on a Sunday. It’s a Muslim event (I don’t want to mention the full name), so you can understand why it’s on a Sunday, and everyone there will be Muslim. She can’t tell her family about the event because they’d be against it, and the friend who recommended her said she should go.
She said her conscience has been pricking her, and she is not comfortable going, knowing she’ll likely be the only Christian there. It’s an annual event, and she has watched the previous ones on YouTube. It’s centered around Muslim conversations, among other things. She said the job is an added income for her, but her conscience won’t let her go. What should she do? The pay is N80k per month, and it’s remote. Should she tell her boss she won’t be comfortable going? Or do you guys suggest she goes? I can’t advise her because I’m as confused as she is. Please help!
