Was I Asking For Too Much? A Story Of Love, Boundaries And Betrayal

I’m a 25-year-old lady who just ended an 8-month relationship. I met my ex at work, and we started dating in July last year. Before the relationship, I asked if he was involved with anyone, and he said no. Later, he mentioned a girl he had asked out but claimed they were just friends. Over time, she became a source of conflict. I asked him to set boundaries, but he refused, saying he wouldn’t leave his friends for me. On January 1st, 2025, he invited her over but denied it until I showed proof. He apologized, and I forgave him. On February 22, while we were intimate, she kept calling. When I asked, he said it was none of my business. I saw her name on his phone, got upset, and he apologized again. The next day, he acted distant. When I joked about ending things, he brushed it off. Later, he ignored my messages and calls, so I officially ended it, leading to a big fight. Even after that, we stayed together briefly, but I eventually left. He always prioritized his friends over me, insulted me when I raised concerns, and even accused me of wanting to isolate him from others. All I ever asked for were boundaries, not for him to cut anyone off. Was I really at fault?
