I am 20 years old, and I really need your advice. My mum married this man three years after my father died, and it hasn’t been easy for her 💔. To be honest, my stepfather is wealthy, and he spends a lot on us. The least he sends me in school every week is N50k for pocket money, but he beats my mum regularly. She has scars all over her body, except on her face—he seems to avoid h!tting her where people would notice. I’ve tried talking to her about reporting him, but she insists that our happiness matters more (I have a younger brother). But I’m tired of seeing her cry; it hurts me in ways I can’t even explain.
I h8te seeing her in pain, and I wish I could take the beatings instead of her. There was a time he beat her so badly she couldn’t go out for days, and afterward, he bought her a new car. I want her to get a divorce. If it’s because of money, they can divide the property, and I’ve saved almost N600k myself. I know it’s not a lot, especially since my brother just started university, but I feel we could manage if we left. At this point, I’m genuinely afraid my intuition will take over, and the next time he beats my mom, I might end up poisoning him 😭.
