Surviving Nigeria’s Economy

Greetings to every Rantandtalkz family (from the eldest to the youngest). Please, guys, how are you all coping with things lately? There has been an increase in almost everything in this country, most especially “Heat”. Please, guys, how has it been so far with y’all? Because right now, I’m losing it already. How can “Hawaii” (body soap) of just ₦800 as of last month become ₦1500 today? For a product made in Nigeria, how? How do they expect us, who are trying to make it in life, to continue with this? If you save today, you spend tomorrow. I stopped making my hair because of this same thing. To make hair today costs from ₦10k upwards, aside from All-back and its families, while to barb is at least ₦500. And for anyone that will be making All-back, they would be having a wig which costs from ₦20k and above.

My only source of income is the money I make from doing assignments and marking attendance for my coursemates, which is not even every time. How do we live if everything is skyrocketing every day? I even tried a teaching job, but teachers are underrated in this country. A person would teach 13 subjects and still beg to get paid 2 months after the day he or she is to be paid (₦15k). I’m in my ND3 finals now. I don’t even know what’s next to go for because everything seems not to be working. I can’t steal or do hookup (I’m not insulting or blaming anyone that does any of them). A lot of business ideas are in my head but no capital 🥺. As we dey hustle, we dey chop the money, because how are we expected to leave if we don’t survive? 😔
