I work in Lagos and live in Ibadan. I go to Ibadan every end of the month and spend 3 days. So I had sex with my girlfriend, now ex, in November, and the condom burst 2 times. After the sex, I told her to use something to prevent pregnancy, and she said ok. The next day, I asked her if she used something, then she said I should not worry, and that she wouldn’t get pregnant, and I said ok. Fast forward to this January, she told me she didn’t see her period, and I was like, “Oti loyun iya baby (you are pregnant, mom to be),” and I smiled. She gave me a slight attitude to stop saying that, she said she was going to do a test to confirm if she was pregnant or not, and then I said ok, she should let me know when she does.
She couldn’t go the next day because she’s always busy at work. Days later, she told me she did the test, and it was negative. Later, she told me she was pregnant, and I said no problem. I called my mum, and she said I should tell my girlfriend not to abort it or take any pills, which I told her. I told my brother who lives close to her workplace to let me know whenever they see to know if the pregnancy is obvious, and he said the girl is getting fat and jokingly said, “Baba baby,” then I said, “Emi niyen o.” I’ve already been making plans to see her parents when I get back home to Ibadan, which I told her, and she said not yet. In my mind, I’ve been thinking of giving her monthly allowances since she’s pregnant, and I’m very sure my mom will do the same. Weeks after, she told me she was joking about the pregnancy to test me, I was shocked and disappointed at how she joked about pregnancy.
I told her my mom was already aware of the pregnancy and was about to tell my dad too, she laughed and said, “Opor.” I felt bad with her response. So when I got to Ibadan, she couldn’t come over because she was busy at work. I went to her workplace to see her and gave her what I brought for her. We joked about the pregnancy, and we laughed at it. In my mind, I’ve broken up with her. I went back to work, and I told her we should end the relationship because of the pregnancy prank she did. That’s how we broke up. I felt sad because I love this babe so much. I thought I had reached my last bus stop. I was thinking she lied to see if I’d say she should abort it so she could get money or she met another guy and tried to chase me away from her. Is breaking up with her bad?
