I’m half Nigerian half European born and based in Europe, I need to rant. Why is that that Nigerians can’t stop generalizing? In Europe, every country has its own culture even every state in a country has its own culture, tradition, and way of life. For example, as soon as some Nigerians meet one disrespectful Oyinbo person, you will not hear word again. “Oyinbo people are disrespectful”. As soon as they meet one person who doesn’t take good care of themselves the next thing you hear is that oyinbos are dirty. You wan tell me there is no Nigerian person that is dirty or disrespectful? Abegii! Some even go to regions where churches are not a big thing, then will start explaining to me that I have never been to church because I’m Oyinbo, not knowing that I’m from a catholic village. I tire oo! I can’t even eat bread once in a while without them shouting “Oyinbo only eats bread”, is this even normal? Some even keep asking me why I’m not a baby mama yet in my early twenties ‘cause that’s normal for Oyinbos. However, in my country, ladies even start having kids at 30 plus. I can not meet somebody from Gambia and tell him he is the same as a Nigerian because both are Africans. An Italian person and a German person will never have the same ways. Why is that so difficult to understand? And please don’t believe everything on social media, personalities, and ways ARE DIFFERENT.
