I’m a 300-level student, and I have been planning on starting a business so I can help myself where my parents can’t. I had been planning in secret, attending online seminars and such, so when I finally get the funds I need, I would start. I finally decided to let my friend know my intentions, and the reaction I got is not something I thought I would receive. I expected her to be happy and maybe even try to brainstorm with me since she’s also a small business owner, but instead, she laughed at me. She said, and I quote, “Someone like you cannot succeed in business o.”
She later went on to try to defend herself by saying she didn’t mean it in the way I thought, but she’s not sure I can do business. And she kept stressing the fact that I don’t have where to get the money from to start, so I’m overplanning. She really hurt my feelings. I just walked out on her that day, and we’ve not talked since then. Though she comes to my hostel to try to talk to me, I avoid her. What she said really hurt my feelings. Do you think she has bad intentions for me? Because with the way she said I won’t make it, I’m already feeling discouraged.
