I’m literally crying right now. Some customers can be so wicked. This woman ordered ready-to-wear clothes worth one hundred thousand for her daughter from me. She sent me fifty thousand to start the work. I just used it to get the material and sew. I texted her that night that fifty thousand wouldn’t cover all the materials, and she should send any amount out of the remaining fifty thousand. But she insisted that when I’m done with the dress, I shouldn’t worry; she would send the balance.
I agreed since it was her first time patronizing me. Normally, I collect 70% before starting any work and ask for the balance before sending out the clothes. I was just trying to be nice to her, which was why I sent the clothes out without asking for the balance, trusting she’d send it once she got them. Y’all won’t believe it—this woman said she’d send the balance at night. I told her, “Ma, I don’t do business like this. Since you’ve received your clothes, please send my balance.”
Next thing, she removed outfits worth the initial fifty thousand and returned the rest. I even called her to beg, saying if sending the balance at night was what she wanted, no problem—she should take the clothes. After begging for almost 10 minutes, she still insisted she wouldn’t collect the clothes again because I had asked for the balance in the first place. I had no choice but to tell my student to bring the clothes back. I’m crying because I’m very broke at the moment (sales aren’t really moving).
I even worked overnight to make sure I didn’t disappoint her because she gave me 2 days to deliver. I can’t remember the last time I felt this bad and sad. I leave her to God. I just wanted to rant here so I can at least feel a bit better because I don’t have anyone to share this with. Thank you all for your time.
