I am a girl of 23 years old with 2 kids, and I live with my children’s father. He provides food, clothes, rent, and bills. I am a stay-at-home mom because my baby is just one year old, and here abroad, nobody is available to help me hold the baby for me to work until 3 years of age before he can start schooling. The problem is, my baby’s father does not give me any money for upkeep. He buys me clothes once a year, but he provides for the kids. Sometimes, I am very rud£ to him because he wants to be commanding me, which I don’t like.
He has made it clear to me that he will never marry me because I don’t respect him. I am a very hot-tempered person, and sometimes I shout at him when I am angry. The reason I am writing is that on Sunday, I was complaining about our living situation (a studio apartment) where the kitchen is in the same place as where we sleep. It’s not that he cannot afford a bigger apartment, but he is building a bigger mansion in Nigeria. Meanwhile, we stay in a very small apartment where there’s no space even for the children to play.
When I was working, I even gave him money to add to his own so that we could rent another one, but he was not ready. Now he is saying if I am tired, I should go. I was just looking out for my kids because one is autistic. Even when I finish cooking, everywhere, including the bed, will be smelling. I am just tired. Did I do wrong for complaining?
