My boyfriend and I were together at his apartment. I jokingly told him I can’t wait to change my last name to his last name when we get married. This man said I shouldn’t bother changing my last name, that it’s stressful. Saying it’s stressful, that I will have to change everything that has my name in it, even my WAEC certificate. I will still have to bring extra documents to prove change of name, that it doesn’t worth it. I still insisted on changing my last name to his, then this young man literally said if I wish to change it, I shouldn’t involve him in the changing of name process, like telling him to bring his passport, signature, marriage certificate etc. This issue is making me overthink. Does he have another intention in our marriage? Because why would a man tell his wife not to change her name to his last name?
