My Anambra Parents are Against My Imo Boyfriend

I’m a 24-year-old girl from Anambra, and honestly, I must say I’m really, really tired and so unhappy. It just seems like nothing is working for me at the moment. I just ended things with my guy because my family doesn’t want me to marry from another state. The guy in question is from Imo State. I don’t know why Anambra parents are like this. It really hurts me so much because my heart truly accepts this person, and I feel at peace with him. I have tried several times to talk to my parents, but they refused, saying they won’t bless such a marriage and that marriages between the two states never work. I have tried, honestly, but they aren’t even listening to me Just because it doesn’t work for others doesn’t mean it won’t work for me.

My major pain is that I am now being pushed to marry someone I don’t even love at all, just because he’s from Anambra, and they feel he is the best for me. Please, I need your advice. I don’t know if I should get pregnant for the one I love and just tell my parents that I’m pregnant for him already. Maybe they might accept him then. I don’t know why they can’t see reason with me. They feel like they are in the position to make marriage decisions for me. Who does that? This has to be the hardest moment of my life so far. It’s really a lot for me to handle.
