I Slapped a Mad Woman

I recently started working as an intern in a hospital. It’s been going well, and I’m really learning a lot. I met a patient in one of the wards; I never knew she was mentally deranged. Anytime I went to her room, she always looked lost. Today, her daughter called me from my post saying the dextrose water was no longer dropping, and she left to go get food for her mother. I went to the ward and discovered that the patient wasn’t laying properly, so it affected the way the dextrose water was flowing. I adjusted her body, and everything was going well. Her daughter came back after some minutes, and I told her to inform me when her mom was done eating so I could dispense the afternoon medicine. She called me when her mom was done, so I dispensed the medicine in a packet and took it to her to use.

There wasn’t water in the ward, so I went to get some for her. When I got back, the woman started throwing the pills at me and began laughing profusely. I moved closer to her to calm her down, and that’s when this woman bit my hand and burst a sachet of water on my face. I was so frustrated that I slapped her. It’s not a psychiatric home, and I wasn’t expecting to be bitten out of the blue. I slapped her, and she became calm. I then reported the incident to the matron. She said I shouldn’t have slapped her because she wasn’t feeling well. 😒 The woman was admitted two days ago. When did madness enter? Abeg, na volunteer I come volunteer o; make nobody use teeth draw map for my body.
