I’m at my lowest right now, and I don’t understand what’s happening with my father. After my mother passed away some time ago, my dad got married to a new wife who was sweet to me until he had to travel. Months after he left, this woman changed. She’d leave her kid with her sisters and travel for weeks, leaving me alone without food. It happened so often that I had to sell the TV in my room to buy food and manage on my own. My dad has never been supportive, so each time I called, he’d give me excuses and promises until my phone was stolen in church.
One day, some friends came to visit, and this woman called the police on us, accusing us of doing drugs. We all ran away because Nigerian police aren’t your friend. When I returned, she had changed the locks and moved out. After much begging, she refused to let me in and even moved to a new place, telling my dad I was now a crackhead and she was afraid I’d harm her and her son. He didn’t bother to ask me and just believed her. I was literally on the street for almost a year as they convinced everyone I was a crackhead, all lies. The most annoying part is that this man, who’s supposed to be my father, never supports or listens to me.
He does everything in favor of his new wife, who’s a cheating liar. He doesn’t know of her escapades in his absence, and I’m convinced she’s manipulated him. I’ve decided to walk away from the family as they all seem to be on her side. God bears me witness that everything she said is a lie. I wish my mother was still here.
