Being a Makeup Artist in Port Harcourt Isn’t for the Weak

Being a makeup artist in Port Harcourt is not for the faint-hearted, I swear! Imagine spending your money and time on quality products, training, and practice just to perfect your craft, and yet some people will come and price you like you’re selling tomatoes in the market. You tell someone your rate is ₦10k, which is very reasonable considering the time, skill, and effort involved, and they’ll start acting like you asked for their life savings. The worst is when they boldly ask, “Can’t you do it for ₦3k or ₦5k?” Like, what am I supposed to do with that? Buy one foundation and starve for the rest of the month? They forget that this is not just makeup; it’s an art. It’s someone’s livelihood. I’m not just trying to make you look good; I’m also trying to put food on my table.

Do you know how much good-quality makeup products cost these days? It’s frustrating because we’re out here hustling, doing our best to build something for ourselves, and people don’t respect the value of the work. Please, if you can’t afford the service, just say so respectfully and move on. Don’t come and stress someone who’s already trying to survive in this hard economy. Dear clients, quality work costs money. Makeup artistry is a skill that deserves to be appreciated and paid for. If you’re not ready to pay, don’t waste our time. Rant over! I just hope I get the right audience this year.
