When you go to a search engine and type “What is a prize?” in the search bar, you’re going to get a result that says a prize is something of high value given to someone for accomplishing a feat, and so on. It’s been a while since I’ve been hearing a good number of ladies call themselves a prize. This talk is not to refute that; it’s up to you to decide whether or not you’re a prize. But the focus here is the word “prize.” A prize is considered to be an object—something. Women are human, people; human are not an object or “something.” I get the intention to present yourself as a woman of high value, importance, and achievement. You know what men call that?
A “high-value man.” To be honest, I think that’s a better way to put it than calling yourself a prize—”a high-value woman.” Say that out loud and tell me if it doesn’t sound better than saying you’re a prize. When a woman calls herself a prize, to me, she’s calling herself an object. That is my interpretation of what she thinks of herself because that is the meaning of a prize. Quit objectifying yourself and find a better name for what you’re trying to portray yourself as. There has to be a better way or name for that, but not a prize. You’re not objects; you’re people!
