So I went through my girl’s phone when she came to visit, but I saw a chat with a guy who’s clearly been trying to get with her. He told her he liked her and asked her to come see him. She told him she was in a relationship, and at first I felt okay with that. But then I saw something that’s been bothering me ever since. He said she should give him a chance, and she replied, “Maybe if I were single, I’d consider it, but I don’t have the heart to hurt someone.” That line didn’t sit right with me. It felt like she said that out of guilt than love. She didn’t say, “I love my boyfriend” or “I’m happy in my relationship.” It just felt like pity. The fact that she even kept replying and gave him that kind of explanation feels off to me. Since then, I haven’t really felt the same in the relationship, and it felt kind of disrespectful honestly. I haven’t told her what I saw though, and I think it’s a big red flag to me. Am I overthinking this? Or would this bother you too if you saw it from your partner.
