I have been with my boyfriend for a couple of months now, and I can say we are really in love with each other and planning our future together; we are both 27. I have a good business that at least pays my bills and supports my family, as I am the first daughter. My boyfriend, on the other hand, has Yahoo as his only hope and source of income, and it doesn’t even pay him. In one full year, he has only cashed out once, and it wasn’t even big money. I’ve become his backbone, as he’s always calling me and asking me for money because he has chased everyone he knows with his constant begging for N1k, N2k to feed and live every day. It has even become embarrassing, but he doesn’t seem embarrassed as he still keeps asking them and me for money.
I am very hardworking and goal-oriented; I make at least N600k monthly, and I have been the one sustaining him for the past year. As much as I love him, I don’t think I can marry him. He has no other plan except for Yahoo at 27 years of age. Even when his close friend offered him his car to do Uber, he bluntly refused because he thinks it’s beneath him. I have tried my best to advise him and encourage him, but I don’t know what else to do. Time is running out, and I don’t know what decision to make; my parents think he’s doing okay and are expecting our wedding soon.
