My roommate introduced me to her husband, saying he is an agent based in Lagos. First of all, I met my roommate when I was in Turkey, but we moved back to Nigeria in September 2023 to Abuja. After I gave birth to my second son in October, we wanted to relocate to the UK through work permits. We talked to her husband, and he said N8m for a family of four. We sent N4m to him to start the process. In December, he told us he now had the “COS.” We asked him to send the “COS” letter, but he refused, saying he didn’t want to give out the company’s information. He told us we needed to pay N4.4m for the visa fee for two years, which we paid. When we asked for proof of visa fee payment, he refused, giving useless excuses. Our submission date was January 17. When we got to the embassy, we saw visiting visas and were shocked because we had clearly applied for work visas.
After everything, we asked him what happened, and he said the company’s government canceled their ability to bring in foreigners. Let me take you back—we also applied for my brother’s work visa, which cost N5m, and we paid N2.5m in November 2023. Our visas were refused, including my brother’s. We paid N350k for my brother’s visa, totaling N11.2m. He told us he would refund N9m, N500k every week. He made the first payment that day, but one month and two weeks later, he refused to make further payments. If we call him, he doesn’t pick up, and neither does his wife. Now we don’t know what to do because we trusted him. We don’t know his office or house in Lagos. If anybody can help me recover my money, I’m begging, please help me.
