I’m a 22-year-old female. I dated this guy for almost 2 years. Then he started giving me attitude, which led to our breakup. Ten months later, he came back to ask for my forgiveness, but I could not bring myself to date him again at that point, even though I still loved him. I had to tell him a lie about my relationship life before he left me alone and blocked my number. Fast forward to another 8 months (2024), I happened to meet him coincidentally at a shopping mall. We greeted each other and exchanged numbers again. I had not gotten over him and always had him in mind, which stopped me from entering another relationship. So we started chatting again, and 2 weeks into chatting, he said he still loves me and wants to get back with me. At this point, I was happy because I really missed him, so I agreed to it. Not even a week into the relationship, he said he wants to marry me because he can’t afford to lose me again.
The issue now is he acts differently. Our sex life is still great, but he doesn’t check up on me and care for me like he used to. I doubt his intentions, and I feel he doesn’t actually love me. If I tell him to check up on me, he’ll do it for two days and stop. I feel he has looked around and seen I’m the best girl for him character-wise because he told me his ex was terrible at a lot of things, so he had to end it. Does he want to marry me because he doesn’t see a girl better than me, or does he love me? How do I know or figure out his true intentions? What if he’s just saying he wants to marry me to lock me down and not leave him for someone else? I’m not desperate for marriage at this point in my life, but it’s really concerning to me. He’s 30 years old, and I sometimes think he wants to marry me because he’s getting old.
