I met this guy on a dating app, he stays in Australia but is based in Lagos anytime he comes back to Nigeria. He is from Abia state, and I am from Abia state too, currently schooling there. So, we went out on a date the same day he chatted me up. He is a very sweet guy. He asked me to be his girlfriend that night. He told me he came to Abia last 3 weeks to continue his house project and that he paid for a room in a hotel for a month. He is staying there while he checks on his building in the village before he goes back to Lagos. He also told me about his last relationship that lasted only 4 months and how things ended. At the end of the day, it was late, so I couldn’t go back to my hostel. We went to his hotel room, and he was a gentleman. He didn’t ask me for sex.
The next day, I wanted to leave. He gave me N40k cash and begged me to come back and keep him company, like staying with him till he leaves for Lagos. I didn’t see any big deal in it because we were already dating. He treated me well, took me out on several dates, posted me on his WhatsApp status, took videos and pictures of us and posted them too. He took me out for shopping, paid my house rent, gave me money countless times, introduced me to one of his friends on the phone, took my siblings out, made personal calls in front of me. He even introduced me as his girlfriend to some of his cousins that visited him at the hotel. He is 38 years old, and I am 22. We had unprotected sex too during my stay with him. After 2 weeks I stayed with him at the hotel, it was time for him to go back to Lagos.
He gave me more money after he dropped me off at my hostel and told me he can’t wait for me to come back to Lagos after my semester break because my parents are based in Lagos too. Two days after he left for Lagos, he stopped replying to my texts, stopped taking my calls, stopped texting and calling. I stopped seeing his status too, and he stopped viewing my status. I assumed he deleted my number. I got angry and went to unfollow him on Instagram and deleted his contact too, but I still miss him because he treated me so well, and he is a giver, not just to me but to everyone around him. Someone who spent close to N600k on me in just 2 weeks that we met. I keep wondering why he ghosted me for no reason after he went back to Lagos.
