Ladies, always remember to get your breast checked and do self-examination after your period; it’s important. I was here a few weeks ago, sharing how I was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer during pregnancy, which eventually led to a miscarriage. I had to listen to my doctor, and underwent surgery, and the total cost, including blood tests, scans, X-rays, and histology of the breast sample, amounted to almost 650k. Now, I need to take the sample for immunohistochemistry to determine the type of drugs or if chemotherapy is advised. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it, as we have exhausted all our resources. Since the 13th, when the histology result came out, and I needed further testing, I couldn’t proceed due to financial constraints.
The drugs involved are also expensive. I think about women who can’t afford surgery, and the illness gradually consumes them. I feel favored, and I am grateful. I pray that God, who gave me a second chance, will make a way. Ladies, check your breast status; breast cancer is no longer an illness of elderly women, as young women are also affected. I’m grateful to God because this experience has changed everything about me – what I eat, think, and drink, my relationships, and my gratitude for life itself. In everything, may God bless my husband, who might not have much financially but has been supportive. This journey is long and lonely, but I will overcome it.
