When I started growing up, I was taught how to wash my vagina with just water, inserting my fingers to wash it out, and that’s what I grew up with and I’ve been doing. I’m 24 years old now. So last month, I had an infection (yeast). I’ve been having it continuously, I’d treat it, and it‘d stop, then later come back. So I was worried because last month it came back, and I was discussing it with my nurse. She was asking me how I washed my vagina, and I told her. Then she was telling me not to, that I was the cause of it. She asked me to go Google about douching, and I did, but I’m confused. Won’t I smell down there if I wash without inserting? She even said, that even if I’m on menses, I should still not put my fingers in. Like I won’t put my fingers to bring out that dirty bl00d, I should just wash the outer part. Since then, I’ve been finding it difficult to adjust because, omo, I can’t, I’m used to douching. And I feel if I don’t put my finger inside to bring out those whitish stuff, I’ll smell. Biko, my ladies, help educate me, please. I’ll be in the comment section. Thanks for your help.
