I came to Lagos after NYSC with nothing to my name. My close friend, a guy, actually suggested I move and helped me get a job. I squatted with his sister for two months before moving in with another friend. We shared rent. I saved and started a perfume business, but it was not moving. My girlfriend helped by taking the oils to sell to her, but it still was not meeting target, and, ashamed to say, I am not an outspoken person and did not know how to go about it on social media. I cried to my guy friend, whom we will call D. D suggested I sell physically to boost confidence. My girlfriend also liked the advice and would always have me wait outside her workplace at the end of the day to introduce my business to her colleagues. D got me registered at the gym and told me someone had complimented his fragrance and he knew how good I was at curating scents. I came first with the most alluring scent. I gave out contacts to a number of people who were interested and sold so much. It has been over eight months and things have gradually settled.
I moved my sister to Lagos to help with my business since my roommate moved to Abuja, and I got another job. Weeks ago, D introduced me to his friend who took an interest in me and asked me out. I told D about it and he started avoiding me, giving some attitude I could not understand and asked me not to accept his friend. I already like his friend but had to keep my distance. I confronted D about it and he told me that he has feelings for me. I was shocked and now I am wondering if that was his motive for helping me. He even got his family members to be returning customers. I am so confused because I do not know if I feel the same way, and I do not want to lose his support. Please help.
