I Asked Before I Fell In — But I Was Lied To. What Should I Do?

I was introduced to a guy by a female friend I met earlier this year. She usually posted me on her WhatsApp status and called me her bestie, even though I was not really into that kind of closeness. I only told her things I felt comfortable sharing. At some point, a guy asked her for my number, and we started chatting. According to her, the guy was her cousin. However, when I asked him directly, he told me they were not related. I did not confront her because she was known to lie a lot, our colleagues at work even knew this about her. During our talking stage, I asked the guy if he had ever had a sexual relationship with her. At first, he avoided the question, but after I insisted, he said no. Eventually, we stopped talking. A few months later, we reconnected and started vibing again. Before agreeing to anything serious, I decided to clear my doubts once and for all. I visited my friend and asked her face-to-face if she had ever had a sexual relationship with the guy. She said no. She explained that they were close because she had helped him in the past, and he also helped her financially, which was why she called him her cousin.

I accepted her explanation because I wanted to avoid future issues. After that, I decided to give the relationship a chance. The next day, I visited the guy and we had sex. Later on, I had a misunderstanding with the girl. Because of that, I asked the guy again if he had ever been sexually involved with her. This time, he admitted yes and apologised for lying earlier. When I asked why they did not continue whatever they had, he said they could not be in a relationship. I later heard from another person that the girl is into h00kups, and it started to make me feel like the guy may have treated her as a h00kup in the past. What hurts me the most is that they are still in contact, and I was lied to even after I made it clear that honesty was important to me. Now I am confused. I do not know whether to continue this relationship or walk away. I need advice.
