My boyfriend and I have been dating for some time now, and recently he started talking about marriage, telling me that his parents don’t have a problem. He is a Christian, and I’m a Muslim, and we are also from different tribes. I’m Yoruba. He said after marriage our children can do whatever religion they want. However, from my own side, my father says he will not accept him, that I cannot expose him to religious and racial impurity. My mum said so far the man likes me and I like him too, but my mum is a “shine shine lady,” she will later follow her husband. My dad said I must marry my religion and tribe, if not he will disown me. I don’t know what I can do currently. I need advice.
