I met this guy about two months ago on Snapchat. We started texting and calling regularly, and things picked up quickly. Now, we’re planning to meet in person soon but there’s something about him that’s really starting to get under my skin. He has this habit that completely irks me. I like my men masculine, confident, and emotionally balanced. But he acts like a baby. Every time I take a break from texting, mind you, we talk almost 24/7, he flips out. I’m someone who enjoys being reclusive now and then. I need space. But when I go off the grid for a bit, this man starts sending voice notes crying, literally crying, saying things like, “You don’t love me anymore,” or “Why are you ignoring me?” And honestly, it’s such a turn-off. On top of that, his idea of expressing love is on a whole other level. He sends these excessively long paragraphs confessing his love in the most dramatic, over-the-top ways. I know he means well, but to me, it just feels cringey. I’m not the type that responds to that kind of over-lovey-dovey stuff. My love language is “alert,” bank alert. Words of affirmation? Please, make it financial.
