Real Life is Different From Social Media

Social media is not real life. All this “men will always be men” talk really ends online. I was born in Lagos and I school here too. My best friend and I were into hookup at some point in school. We are not from rich homes, we tried businesses but nothing was working out. Along the line, there’s this guy she hooked up with. When he saw my picture, he liked me and asked her to bring me along when next she’s going to see him. She did. I meet him and hooked up with him too, he paid me. After that day, he kept on inviting me without having s€x with me, saying he likes my company. From there, he said he wanted us to date. I told him I’m not interested. He already slept with my friend and I can’t trust him since we meet through hookup. He said he won’t judge me and if he can let go of the life I was living and want me all to himself, then I can also let go of the fact that he slept with my friend first. So I told my friend, she said I can date him if I like him, that he met her first so technically he did not cheat on me and did not know me then, and she took me to him so no big deal. So I decided to give it a shot. I sha was not serious with him at first. We started dating.

I noticed this guy loved me. He took me on trips, set up a business for me, took me to his parents, did a whole lot for me. He brags about me like I’m a queen. The problem is now he’s asking me to marry him and I don’t want to marry him, not because I don’t love him tho, there’re some red flags he has that I don’t want in a husband. I honestly did not know this man was serious about me. I thought we were just catching fun, now he took it too far. Now that I’m a changed girl, his lifestyle is not the type I want for a husband. We’ve been dating for 1 year six months now. By the way, my girlfriend he slept with before me is engaged to a guy she met through hookup too. They’ll get married next year, her introduction has been done already. So my question now is, who are the men that always insult hookup girls online and claim they can’t marry them? The type of standard people set online eeh, you’ll be surprised how people do things they claim they don’t do online. Lmao. You know the funny thing? Many girls I knew then, when I was in the street, are all married to big guys they met through hookup too. Omo just do you, the world will adjust.
