I have been in a relationship with this guy—let’s call him O. He lives in the UK, I’m in Nigeria, and although we’ve never met in person, things started off beautifully. He was attentive, sweet, and gave me hope. I felt safe… or so I thought. I’ve recently come across posts and pictures suggesting he might have someone else, someone he’s been with for over a year. That shattered me. I’ve been nothing but real with him, and this is how it ends? He once told me he couldn’t date two girls. So, was I ever even “the girl” or just a placeholder? For the past three weeks, it’s like I’ve been talking to a wall. He barely calls, barely texts. Meanwhile, he’s been active online—posting, updating his stories—just not replying to me. Then I stumbled across some videos online. I saw him with another girl. I asked him about it, and his explanation wasn’t exactly clear. He said they’re no longer together, that he can’t even date two girls. He works for like 18 hours out of 24 hours. He needs to rest too out of the remaining 6 hours.
According to him, he said he can’t cope with two girls, especially with the type of work he does. Turns out, she’s in Nigeria too, but they had something going on sometime last year outside the country—not even in the UK. The crazy part? Recently, they were still liking and commenting on each other’s posts. Since I brought it up, our communication has dropped drastically. He keeps claiming he’s busy, but the energy has changed. I keep wondering… Was I ever anything real to him? Or just someone to fill the gap? Shortly after the last time I asked about it, he sent a message saying he wasn’t fine mentally. He apologized for not being as communicative as he should be. He said he’s trying to work through it and asked me to be patient with him—that he doesn’t want to lose “this” and would appreciate it if I stayed. But it’s almost three weeks now, and I still haven’t heard from him. Please, if you’ve been in something like this before, how did you handle it?
