I have three close friends—we’ve been close since our ND days. We just signed out last year. Early this year, around March, I went to learn a handwork skill, and I used all my savings for the fees. Two of my friends celebrated their birthdays in April, and at that time, I didn’t have a single penny. In fact, even subscribing for data was a problem for me. I only wished them a happy birthday without a gift, and deep down, I was pained that I couldn’t afford to give my friends just N2k for a subscription.
Fast forward to August, my third friend celebrated her birthday. Meanwhile, I had saved for her birthday since I couldn’t afford to gift the other two.
A week before her birthday, my boss started pestering me to get a new frontal for practice, which she had been telling me about for a long time. I didn’t have money, and the little I had, I was saving for my friend’s gift. It got to a point where my boss started disgracing me in front of other apprentices, so I had to use the money I saved to get the frontal. Now, my birthday was last month, and I didn’t get a single thing from my friends. I just wanted to know if I’m overthinking it or if they simply reciprocated the same energy.
