Hello, please I really need y’all’s take on this. I have a girl I’ve been dating since university days. She has always had a thing for the spotlight, which isn’t my thing, but for her, it’s cool. After graduation, she started connecting with some casting directors as a vixen. Luckily for her, she’s been featured in top music videos. Before now, she’d always mentioned acting, which I frowned against and gave her my reasons.
We just let it slide back then, but lately, she’s been pushing for it again. Sometimes, I don’t pay attention to it. Other times, I encourage her. My main concern is that I don’t want to block her dreams of acting. Several times, I’ve told her that she can be in the spotlight without being an actress. There are other ways to get famous these days, but her response is always, “While I’m discovering my purpose, let me try acting too.”
Most of the time, I just keep cool and encourage her, even though I’m not entirely comfortable with it. My reasons are:
1. I’m a family-oriented guy. I don’t want a situation where I’ll be at work, and my kids will be with a nanny, not seeing their mother for days.
2. Most celebrity marriages don’t last, often due to the pressure to do more.
The whole thing is really worrisome for me. I’m confused about where to stand.
