Sometimes when my boyfriend is wrong, he tries to manipulate and gaslight me. When I confront him about it, he says things like, “Why would I manipulate you? To gain what exactly?” He’s a nice person, and I know no one is perfect, but he does this to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. I can’t keep leaving a relationship over every slight inconvenience, so my question is: how do I respond to him when he says things like, “What do I stand to gain by manipulating or gaslighting you?” I’ve tried making him understand, but it seems his ego won’t let him lose any argument. Please, any advice would be appreciated.
