I have been skeptical about talking to someone about this because it’s so shameful. This year has been really difficult for me—from losing my mum to being scammed to facing the most difficult year in my university life. The only upside to this is that I signed out, but my mental health is a huge mess. I’ve been wanting to start a business for the longest time, but whenever I start to save up, I end up using the money because I would need it for food, school, or something urgent. Plus, it’s not much. About three weeks ago, I reached out to one of my uncles for assistance. He’s my late mother’s younger brother, and he asked me to come to his office. Well, I went there, spent close to 3k on transport, but I thought I would get something in return, so it didn’t matter.
He started asking about my well-being and then asked about what I wanted to start. I told him. Throughout the conversation, he was looking at me inappropriately, but I ignored it. The next thing this man said was that he’d send 150k to my account right then if I agreed to sleep with him. I was so shocked. This is someone that I deeply respected. I said no. I told him to his face that I’m desperate, but I am not that desperate. Honestly, the way he was acting, I thought he was even going to rape me. I’m so glad I was able to escape and nothing happened to me. I cried so much when I got home, and I have never told anyone about this. My uncle still tried to reach me, but I blocked him.
