My boyfriend, who was innocent and sweet, hit it big early this year and started taking care of me—but only when he’s around. He’d change my phone, take me shopping, and do a lot of stuff for me without complaining. What he does for me is not compared to what I do for him because I, in turn, buy him original shirts, shoes, bags, and food. Sometimes, if he doesn’t have naira, I will send him money. I also run a small business that’s not doing well, but I can use all my profits to buy him stuff because I know he’s got me, or my biological dad has got me. Now, where I have problems is when he’s not around. Even getting N1k from him is hard. He promised to give me N20k weekly, but I never see it.
When I bill him for things, he complains and in$ults me before eventually giving me the money. But he can book a flight for me to come and see him and spend more than N500k just for our pleasure. He gets so busy and cold at work, sometimes cheating and giving me infections. I’ve been treating infections since the beginning of the year. When I threaten to leave him, he says I should refund all he’s done for me. It’s not a problem for me to do that, even though I find it petty. But he doesn’t care. We love each other, but it has turned into a do-or-d!e affair now. It’s just tiring. I don’t even know if I need advice; I just want to rant!
